Even at work home is where the heart is

“MyHome made the difference we needed.”

Natasha Glidden

For Burnie Customer Experience Consultant Natasha Glidden it’s made a life-changing difference.

Natasha has settled into her dream home, financed through the State Government’s shared equity program, MyHome.

“We had been in the market but, as everyone knows, it’s pretty challenging out there,” she said.

“My partner and I are both working so we have the salary to meet mortgage repayments.

“But we had children quite young, so where we have struggled was putting together enough for a deposit.”

MyHome is a shared equity program for which Bank of us is the partner lender. Under the program the State Government makes a financial contribution which is coupled with a home mortgage from the Bank.

It is available to approved customers with a 2% deposit instead of the standard minimum 5%.

“It made the difference we needed,” Natasha said. “It’s a more complicated process because of the nature of the program, but having your own home as a result is incredible.”

Bank of us CEO Paul Ranson said he was thrilled for Natasha and her family, along with more than 1700 other Tasmanians who had realised the dream of home ownership through MyHome.

“We are incredibly proud of the role MyHome has made in lifting levels of housing security in Tasmania,” Mr Ranson said.

“Natasha is a very good example of someone who readily meets the criteria for a home loan, but found the 5% deposit a real barrier.

“We continue to work in partnership with the State Government and Homes Tasmania on an initiative which has literally changed the lives of hundreds of Tasmanians.”
