Mr Brown is CEO of Launceston City Mission. Prior to this he was Executive Director with a national training organisation and formerly worked in public accounting, consulting and as CEO of a WA-based mutual health insurance organisation. He is also the current Chairman of Health Recruitment Plus Tasmania.
Mr Brown has been a Director since January 2009, serving as Chairman for 6 years from 2014 to 2020. He is currently Chairman of the Board Audit Committee and a member of the Board Risk Committee.
Helen Galloway
Director (CPA GAICD)
Helen is an experienced non-executive director with core skills in commercial strategy, finance, IT and analytics. Helen’s experiences in senior executive roles at large corporate organisations have provided her with industry experience in tourism, hospitality, gaming, retail and entertainment.
Helen is a certified practicing accountant (CPA), Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and has degrees in Information Systems and Commerce.
Helen is currently a Director on two Tasmanian Government Boards (TT Line and Tasracing) including being a member of their Audit and Risk Committees. Helen is also Chairman of the Sorell Council Audit Panel and a member of the Tasman Council Audit Panel.
Helen schooled and grew up in Tasmania and attended university in Hobart. Helen and her family live in Hobart.
Helen was appointed as a Director of Bank of us on 29 October 2019. Helen is also a member of both the Board Audit Committee and Board Risk Committee.
Keryn Nylander
Director (BA FAICD)
Ms Nylander, a former political journalist and television news director, is an experienced public relations, media, marketing, brand and communications specialist now heading up her own business, Nylander Consulting. Keryn is currently a director of Tasmanian energy retailer Aurora Energy. She has also served on a number of boards over the past two decades including Wine Tasmania and the Tasmanian Development Board and just finished a 9-year term on the Fahan School Board, the past 3 as Chairman.
Ms Nylander has been a Bank of us Director since 2004 and served as Chairman from 2009 to 2011. She is a member of the Board Corporate Governance Committee and Board Remuneration Committee.
Mark Nugent
Director (BCom CPA AICD)
Mr Nugent is Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Services Manager of Fairbrother Pty Ltd. He is a Director of Fairbrother Pty Ltd, a Director of Degree C Pty Ltd and a Board Member of OzHelp Tasmania. He has more than 25 years experience in management, accounting and administration in both the private and public sectors.
Mr Nugent was appointed as a Bank of us Director in February 2012 and is a member of the Board Corporate Governance Committee and the Board Remuneration Committee.
Scott Newton
Chairman (BBus, L.Ec, FAPI CPV GAICD)
Mr Newton is currently CEO of Knight Frank Tasmania and IPST Pty Ltd. He has worked in the property industry for over 27 years and previously served as the National Director of Opteon Property Group and State President of the Australian Property Institute.
Mr Newton was appointed Bank of us Chairman in October 2020 and has been a Director since October 2014. He is also Chairman of both the Board Corporate Governance Committee and the Board Remuneration Committee.
Robert King
Director (BSc MBA MAICD)
Until April 2017 Mr King was the Chief Executive Officer of Intech Bank and a Group Executive of Bank Australia, one of Australia’s leading mutuals. Over a thirty year career he has worked in senior leadership roles for a range of banking institutions including ME Bank, Citibank, Rothschild and Newcastle Permanent Building Society.
Mr King was appointed as a Director in November 2017. He is currently the Chairman of the Board Risk Committee and a member of the Board Audit Committee.
Paul Ranson
Chief Executive Officer
Paul joined Bank of us as Chief Executive Officer in 2005 and has been responsible for laying the foundations for the growth and development of the company. Prior to joining Bank of us, Paul had 25 years’ experience in local government including 18 years’ combined experience as General Manager at Meander Valley and West Tamar Councils.
Paul is a Director (Chair) of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce & Industry and is a past President of the Launceston Chamber of Commerce and Local Government Managers Australia (Tasmania Division). He is a life member of Local Government Managers Australia and a Fellow and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Gerald White
Chief Financial Officer
Gerald joined Bank of us as CFO in 2013 and leads the teams responsible for finance, treasury, IT and the company secretarial function. Prior to joining B&E Ltd, Gerald previously held senior executive roles at large corporate organisations including Boral, Origin Energy, Spotless and Power &Water Corporation leading teams responsible for finance, strategy, transformation and shared services. He has also worked as a management consultant across the energy, technology and government sectors with KPMG and PWC.
Gerald holds a Bachelor of Business from University of Tasmania, an MBA from Melbourne Business School and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Jill Jetson-Shumbusho
Chief Customer & People Officer
Jill joined Bank of us in early 2017, after the decision had been made to transition to a Customer Owned Bank. Jill’s most recent banking roles as Head of Sales & Distribution – QT Mutual Bank 2014-16; Chief Operating Officer & Head of Member Services P&N (Mutual) Bank 2010-14; and Regional General Manager – Retail & Business Banking – Westpac 2009-10, have already seen her actively involved in the transition from a mutual to a bank.
Having commenced her banking career working for Trust Bank and its various iterations in Tasmania over a 10 year period, Jill also understands the nuances of the Tasmanian market. Jill has also held a number of other banking and corporate sector management roles including with CBA in Sydney and News Ltd.
Susie Russell
Chief Projects Officer
Susie has over 35 years of banking experience and is one of the longest servicing members of the Bank of us team. During her long and varied career with Bank of us, Susie has held numerous management positions including Information Systems & Controls Manager; Systems Support Manager; Operations & Project Manager; Operations Manager, Chief Operations Manager and in 2018 was appointed to her current role as Chief Projects Officer.
Nat Whish-Wilson
Chief Risk Officer
Nat started with Bank of us in 2015 and is responsible for the Compliance and Risk Management functions for the company. Nat attends all Board Risk and Audit Committee meetings, chairs the management Operational Risk Committee, and also acts as the AML/CTF Compliance Officer. She is the primary contact for disputes lodged through the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA).
With more than 20 years’ experience in banking and financial services Nat held several Executive and Senior Management roles during her 16 years at MyState Limited and antecedents, where she was CRO from 2011 to 2015, Senior Manager Risk from 2010 to 2011 and Group Manager Operational Risk for MyState Financial from 2007 to 2010.
Nat was also employed as a Police Officer at Tasmania Police from 1988 to 1998 and has extensive experience in the Forensic and Criminal Investigation fields.
