Bank of us supports Tasmanian Government Housing Strategy
Bank of us, Chief Executive Officer, Paul Ranson welcomes the release of the Tasmanian Housing Strategy.
‘Bank of us was established in 1870 with the purpose of helping Tasmanians getting into homes and we’ve remained true to that purpose.’
‘Having been part of the housing system for over 153 years, we support The Tasmanian Government’s Housing Strategy’ mission to deliver a well-functioning housing system that provides safe, appropriate and affordable housing for all Tasmanians,’ said Mr Ranson.
Bank of us is proud to be the exclusive lending partner of the Tasmanian Government’s MyHome shared equity program.
‘Since the program began in July 2022, we’ve supported the purchase of 230 properties across the state. That means 577 Tasmanians are now living in their own homes.
‘And we’re pleased that the Government intends to build on existing initiatives, like the My Home program, as part of the Strategy.
MyHome not only reduces the demand for rental and social housing, but it also creates jobs, stimulates the economy and contributes to the social sustainability of Tasmania,’ Mr Ranson said.
Additionally, Bank of us partners with other stakeholders within the system, such as Wilson Homes, Tasmania’s largest builder, and Master Builders Tasmania to support the prosperity of the Tasmanian building and construction sector.
‘Through these partnerships, we’re able to provide more opportunities for Tasmanians to achieve their home ownership dreams, while also supporting the government’s goal of increasing the supply and diversity of housing in Tasmania.
‘The Tasmanian Government’s housing strategy is bold; it challenges Tasmanians to change how we think about housing right now to deliver solutions that benefit the broader community. With innovative thinking and cooperation, we believe the strategy can be successful.’ Mr Ranson said.
