AICD recognises Bank of us directors
It was an especially proud day for Bank of us recently when both former and current Directors were honoured by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Stephen Brown was presented with the AICD’s Gold Award. He served as a director from 2009-2023. Stephen was Chair for six years from 2014-2020, which included the bold 2017 relaunch from B&E to Bank of us, paving the way of a period of sustained growth ever since.
At the same event our current Chair, Helen Galloway, was recognised for her emergence as a Director. Along with her Bank role, Helen serves on several significant Tasmanian and national boards. Helen, her Board colleagues and the Bank’s executive team recently committed to a plan to continue to grow the Bank, supported by additional roles, while remaining exclusively Tasmanian in our focus.
CEO Paul Ranson said the stewardship of the Bank as a proudly Tasmanian institution has resulted in its standing as the nation’s longest-operating customer-owned Bank.
“Our Directors come from a range of backgrounds and professional disciplines,” he said. “The thing they all share is a passion for what we do and the role we play in the life of Tasmania and Tasmanians.”
“It was interesting to see at the AICD lunch the number of people in the room – including our current Board, but other former Directors – who have helped shaped how we have developed and who we have become as an organisation.
“Our focus is not growth for growth’s sake. Because we are customer-owned the positive impact of our growth is locked in for our customers and Tasmania more broadly.
“The money that is banked with us helps meet the dreams of other customers through housing, personal and business loans.”
