Visa Credit Card changes

Important changes to how interest free periods apply to purchases made using your Visa Credit Card

From 1 January 2019, interest will now be charged on purchases on your statement from after the payment due date.

Previously if you did not pay your credit card off in full, interest was charged on purchases from the date the purchase was made. To receive interest free days, it was a condition of use that the balance be paid off in full.

Note: If you currently pay the closing balance of each statement in full every month this change will not impact you.

UPDATE TO YOUR CONDITIONS OF USE FOR VISA CREDIT CARD

Effective 1 January 2019, the current clause 1.3 is replaced with the following:

1.3 Interest free days

(a) Interest free days apply to all purchases from the date of purchase up until the payment due date shown on the statement on which the purchase appears.

(b) There are no interest free days for cash advances obtained using a card.

(c) If you do not pay the closing balance in full by the due date, interest will be charged on all unpaid purchases and fees and charges from the payment due date shown on that statement as set out in clause 1.2.
