We’re not the new kid on the block. At B&E, we’ve been helping people achieve their financial goals since 1870.

Our name has changed a few times in our 147 year history but one thing has remained the same, our commitment to our customers and the Tasmanian community.

This year we’ll be taking another big step in our journey. On 1 November, we’ll become a customer owned bank.

Becoming a bank has many upsides. While banks and building societies are guided by the same rules and regulations, people immediately understand what a bank is and what it does, unlike a building society.

Not all banks are created equal though. We’ll be changing our name and logo but not our values.

We will continue to be owned by you – our customers. Just as we do today, we will reinvest any profits into providing a better banking experience for you.

Rest assured your everyday banking will stay the same – there’ll be no need to worry about changes to our BSB or your account numbers.

We’re excited by the next stage of our evolution. We’ll be in touch again soon to reveal more but for now it’s business as usual.
